The Beach
Well, I got home a week ago from a very nice and relaxing vacation. It only took 5 hours on a plane to get back to Dallas, typically a 2 hour flight. Well, we sat on the ground for 40 minutes waiting for a pilot and co-pilot, that had not landed at the ATL airport yet, so we got substitute pilots. Then we had to circle DFW for 30 minutes while we were waiting for a storm to pass. Then we spent 30 minutes flying to Oklahoma City to re-fuel. Then we spent an extra 40 minutes on the runway in OK while we got re-fueled and OK'ed to land at DFW. Then another 30 minutes to fly back to DFW. It could have been a lot worse.
The trip was fun. It rained quite a bit, but we were determined to get beach time in every day and we did. I love the beach. I must go back and add to my list one more life long dream/goal. Some day, I want to own a little cottage on the beach. It could be my main home or just a beach home (if I ever accumulate enough money for that kind of thing). I just want to be able to go out my back door and put my feet in the sand. Walk a little future and feel the waves crash over my feet. Hear the surf through my back door. For me, there is nothing so relaxing as being on the beach.
We didn't do a whole lot. We sat and read on the beach, we had tons of conversations, we did a little shopping at the warf at Sandestin (totally awesome place), and did a lot of walking down the beach. I got stung by an oversized jelly-fish, but it was worth it for a few minutes of salt water swimming. I love the beach!
We went to the Wedding on Friday and had great time. It was so beautiful Amy, of course looked beautiful, the ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was beautiful. We had lunch with Cat, Brian, and their friend Salamon (I have no idea how to spell it) on Saturday afternoon and it was a great time to catch up with them and on their already speeding along wedding plans.
I love reunions, weddings, and the beach. So it was a great vacation. The only down side is that I'm not retired yet and can't enjoy time like this on a regular basis. But don't worry, I've got two more trips planed for this 2005 alone!
My mom's side of the family is having a reunion at my Uncle's new home just outside Wilmington North Carolina for the week of Thanksgiving, and luckily, I was able to take the whole week off! I'm so excited! I get to go back to my favorite state for 5 full days! I get to spend Thanksgiving with my mom, dad, grandma, sister, brother-in-law, aunt, uncle, oldest cousin, cousin-in-law (our old neighbor-we played match-maker and it worked!), 2 cousin's kids I've only met briefly, 1 cousin's kid I've NEVER met, and my other cousin I haven't seen in probably 8 years! It's going to be so great. I can't wait.
But before that trip, I'm going to Los Gatos California! My best friend from 2nd grade is getting married, and has asked me to give a reading in her wedding, attend her bachelorett party, the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and stay at her mom's house with HER where the wedding AND reception will be held! Man, Leslie and her mom must like me or something. I am so blessed!
So, all good things to come. Right now I'm working on the SMU audit. Not bad at all, just a 5 minute drive from my apartment with very reasonable hours.
I could get used to this!
Much love to all
